According to reports from AL.com, the boy had gotten into trouble at school earlier in the day. When his mother, Sarai James, along with a 53-year-old woman, went to pick him up, they were informed of the situation by the school principal. As they were driving home, James purportedly ordered her son to get out of the car and walk the remaining eight blocks home.

In a distressing turn of events, as the boy attempted to grab the door handle, James allegedly accelerated, causing him to fall under the car. The rear tire reportedly ran over the child, resulting in minor abrasions. Fortunately, emergency services were able to transport him to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital for treatment.

Boaz Police Chief Michael Abercrombie commented on the incident, emphasizing the potential severity of the situation. “It was a miracle he was not hurt worse than what he could have been,” Abercrombie stated.

Sarai James was subsequently booked into the Marshall County Jail on a charge of child abuse. However, she posted bond a few days later. The 53-year-old woman who was also present in the car at the time of the incident was arrested for misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.

This disturbing case serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible and appropriate disciplinary measures, as well as the potential consequences of extreme actions.
