On suspicion of shooting and causing injury to his 67-year-old mother in a nursing facility this week, authorities in Ohio detained a 44-year-old man.
In response to a complaint of a shooting, deputies went to Trinity Healthcare Nursing Home at 135 Bills Branch Road on Monday, Oct. 23, at around 5:12 p.m., according to a press release from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office. Before escaping the scene in a silver Chevrolet pickup, James Biddell was accused of shooting his mother, Tomalene Greene.

Greene was injured by a gunshot to the chest and flown by helicopter to Charleston Area Medical Center. As of Monday, Oct. 23, her status is stable, although she is still in the hospital.
State Police Troopers spotted Biddell’s car on US 119 close to the Chapmanville exit and stopped it as deputies were heading to the nursing facility. Biddell was carried by soldiers to the Logan Detachment.
Biddell admitted to shooting his mother, according to WSAZ-TV, after speaking with authorities.

According to Logan County Sheriff’s Deputy Timothy Johnson, “The way he presented it to us was to say that he just drove down, and she stared at him in an unusual manner, and seemingly he didn’t like it.”
Johnson continued, “He shot her in the chest with a gun he had concealed on his back.
Biddell was arrested and put into the Southwestern Regional Jail on murder attempt, intentional attack, and recklessness endangerment charges. His current bond amount is $100,000.
