Ellen DeGeneres, currently on her farewell tour titled “Ellen’s Last Stand… Up,” has announced the cancellation of four upcoming shows.
Cancelled Shows and Refunds
According to Ticketmaster, the canceled shows include stops in Dallas (July 10), San Francisco (July 21), Seattle (July 23), and Chicago (Aug. 11). The message on the event pages reads: “Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event. You don’t need to do a thing. We’ll issue a refund to the original method of payment used at the time of purchase, as soon as funds are received from the Event Organizer.”
The cancellation has led to automatic refunds for ticket holders, who do not need to take any additional action. Refunds will be processed using the original payment method once the funds are received from the event organizer. Representatives for DeGeneres and Live Nation have yet to comment on the cancellations.
Tour Announcements and Adjustments
On May 29, Ellen DeGeneres announced her summer tour across North America. This tour is billed as “the last opportunity for fans to witness a comedy legend in her final curtain call.” The tour initially included extra dates in San Francisco, Seattle, and Chicago due to high demand. However, with the recent cancellations, these cities are left with only one show each.
The tour kicked off in Los Angeles back in April, with several shows across Washington, Oregon, and California previously announced. DeGeneres’ tour has been an opportunity for fans to see her perform live comedy one last time before she steps away from the stage. The final two shows, scheduled for August 16 and 17 in Minneapolis, are labeled as “special taping” events. DeGeneres has confirmed that these performances will be part of a new Netflix stand-up comedy special set to be released later this year.
DeGeneres Addresses Her Hiatus
During her opening night in Los Angeles, DeGeneres took the opportunity to address her prolonged absence from the public eye. According to reports from Rolling Stone and People, she mentioned that both she and her wife, Portia de Rossi, had been “laying low” for a while. This tour marks her return to the spotlight after a period of relative seclusion.
DeGeneres’ farewell tour has been met with enthusiasm and nostalgia from fans who have followed her career for decades. Known for her sharp wit and relatable humor, she has left an indelible mark on the comedy world and television industry. Her daytime talk show, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” ran for 19 seasons and became a cultural staple, known for its heartwarming moments and celebrity interviews.
As DeGeneres prepares for the final shows of her tour, fans are eagerly anticipating her new stand-up special on Netflix. This special will offer a glimpse into her comedic genius one last time, serving as a fitting send-off for a beloved entertainer. While the cancellation of some shows is disappointing for many fans, the excitement surrounding her final performances and upcoming Netflix special continues to build. Ellen DeGeneres’ farewell tour is not just an end but a celebration of her remarkable career in comedy.
