Savannah Police Address Serial Killer Rumors
Clarification Provided Amid Social Media Panic
Rumors about a serial killer in Savannah spread quickly on social media over the weekend, according to the crime report of WTOC 11. Some posts said that seven murders in the city were connected. Many people got scared and called the police because of these posts.
The Savannah Police Department responded to the rumors. They said the rumors were false and there was no need to panic. A police captain, Alex Tobar explained that it’s their job to tell the public when there’s a murder. He said that social media sometimes shares true information but this time it was wrong.
