Religious Institutions Offered Up to $54,000 Monthly to Shelter Migrants

According to the New York Post, New York City is dealing with lots of migrants who need help. Mayor Eric Adams plan is to ask religious leaders to open their places for these migrants. They will get money for doing this up to $54,000 a month. The city has a big problem because it has to take care of around 65,000 migrants. It will cost a lot about $10 billion next year.

Religious Institutions Step Up – Offering Beds and Meals to Migrants in Queens

Some religious places have already said they will help. One in Queens called Rabbinical Seminary of America Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim gives beds and food to single adult migrants. Mayor Eric Adams plan is to make 50 shelters for migrants to stay overnight and 5 places to go during the day. This will help the city save money because the current way of helping migrants is expensive. However, some local leaders say the city should spend money on citizens and veterans who don’t have homes. Mayor Eric Adams plan is to work with groups to help migrants in the city.
