Pennsylvania Launches Online Tool for Property Tax/Rent Rebate Assistance

According to My ChesCo, Pennsylvania’s Department of Revenue launched a user-friendly online tool by the Commonwealth Office of Digital Experience to aid seniors and individuals with disabilities in applying for Property Tax/Rent Rebate. Users can input their zip code to find nearby support services. This is part of Governor Josh Shapiro’s broader initiative to improve the Property Tax/Rent program expanding financial assistance to more eligible individuals.

Pennsylvania’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program Sees First Expansion Since 2006

Pennsylvania’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate program, based on income and prior year’s property taxes or rent accepts applications until June 30. With 45,000 applications received, the Department of Revenue has approved 82% for payment. Starting July 1, 2024 the program sees its first expansion since 2006, offering more funds to qualifying individuals. Since 1971 over $8 billion in relief has been granted to vulnerable residents funded by gaming and the Pennsylvania Lottery.
