In a shocking incident, a woman displaying “bizarre behavior” in Northern California has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping her eight children from their foster homes in Arkansas. The children, who were reported as abducted from Arkansas, were found in the custody of their biological mother, who had lost custodial rights.
The Anderson Police Department received a call from a concerned citizen just after midnight on Saturday, October 21, requesting a welfare check on a group of six children seen with the woman, identified as Trista Fullerton. Upon arriving at the location provided by the concerned citizen, officers discovered Fullerton with the children in a parking lot.
Fullerton, aged 36, was found to be driving a Dodge pickup truck with Arkansas plates. Further investigation revealed that she had a warrant for her arrest for allegedly abducting the eight children. The truck itself was in a state of disarray, filled with trash bags, empty bottles, pieces of food, and clothing. Additionally, there appeared to be furniture loaded in the truck bed.
The authorities took Fullerton into custody, and it was determined that the other two children were located at a residence in Cottonwood. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office provided assistance by retrieving the two additional juveniles.
While Fullerton is the biological mother of all eight children, she had lost her custodial rights. These children had been taken from their respective foster placements, leading to the protective custody warrants.
Following the arrests, all eight children were placed under the care of Shasta County Children and Family Services until arrangements could be made for them to be reunited with their families.
Trista Fullerton was booked into the Shasta County Jail on a fugitive from justice warrant.
This shocking incident highlights the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of children in foster care and the need for strict adherence to custodial arrangements in such cases. The children’s welfare will now be closely monitored as the legal proceedings against Fullerton continue.
