Father Scott Smith, who was arrested two years ago after voicing his disapproval during a school board meeting regarding his daughter’s rape at her high school restroom, has been pardoned by Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin.

According to the Blaze Media, the governor, who prioritized parental involvement in public education during his campaign, announced the pardon on Fox News Sunday.
Smith had been convicted of disorderly conduct for his actions at the meeting. Youngkin praised Smith’s commitment to his child and stated that it represents the parental empowerment movement in Virginia.
Smith was escorted out of the Loudoun County School Board meeting after allegedly making threats and demanding information about his daughter’s assault. The incident occurred during a discussion about safeguards for transgender students. Youngkin vowed to sue the school board and continue to fight for parents and their children.

The teenager charged with assaulting Smith’s daughter was later found guilty of forcibly touching another classmate. In response, Youngkin’s administration has removed rights for transgender children, including stating that students should use bathrooms that correspond to their biological sex.
The school district superintendent was fired after a special grand jury accused him of lying about the initial assault and mishandling the attacker. The grand jury found a lack of transparency and accountability but did not conclude that the case was intentionally covered up.
