NYPD Responds to Horrific Scene Unfolded by Family Member in Far Rockaway Residence

In a shocking incident that sent waves of horror through Queens, a man fatally stabbed four family members and wounded two police officers during a violent attack in the early hours of Sunday morning. The suspect, identified as Courtney Gordon, 38, met his end when police responded to the distress call and intervened, ultimately resorting to lethal force.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) was alerted to the tragedy at 5:10 a.m. following a harrowing 911 call from a young girl reporting that her cousin was systematically killing her family members. Upon arrival at the Far Rockaway residence, two NYPD officers encountered Gordon in the driveway, carrying luggage as he attempted to leave the scene. What began as a routine inquiry took a grim turn when Gordon suddenly pulled out a knife, attacking the officers. In the ensuing struggle, one officer was stabbed in the neck, while the other suffered a blow to the head.

Faced with imminent danger, one of the officers discharged his weapon, fatally shooting Gordon. Despite efforts to transport him to a local hospital, Gordon was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The gruesome discovery continued inside the residence, where an 11-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries. Attempts by officers to enter the home were thwarted by a fire deliberately set in the living room. The New York City Fire Department quickly responded, extinguishing the flames.

Inside, investigators found four additional victims in two back bedrooms. Tragically, a 12-year-old boy, a 44-year-old woman, and a man in his 30s lost their lives in the brutal attack. A 61-year-old woman remains in critical condition, receiving treatment for multiple stab wounds.

The two injured officers were rushed to local hospitals for treatment and are expected to recover from their injuries. NYPD Chief of Department Jeff Maddrey revealed that a “typical kitchen steak knife” was recovered at the scene, believed to be the weapon used against the officers.

As the investigation unfolds, the motive behind this heinous act remains unknown. Officials believe Gordon, a Bronx resident, was visiting his family in Far Rockaway at the time of the attack. The 911 caller, a crucial witness, is currently being interviewed by the police.
