As the back-to-school season approaches, Target is ready with special deals and promotions to ease the burden on parents and students alike. This week, the Minneapolis-based retailer is launching back-to-school and back-to-college sales, offering significant discounts on essential items, including a bundle of 20 classroom necessities priced at $20 and trendy backpacks for just $5.
Target’s Back-to-School Bargains
Target’s back-to-school campaign coincides with Target Circle Week, which the company describes as its “biggest sale of the season.” During this period, customers can enjoy up to 30% off select backpacks, kids’ school uniforms, and various school supplies. These promotions come at a time when consumers are particularly sensitive to prices. In May, Target announced it would reduce prices on 5,000 items, reflecting a broader trend among retailers to offer value amid economic concerns. Rick Gomez, Target’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer, emphasized the importance of value for customers.
Target’s back-to-school season is second only to the Christmas holiday season in terms of sales. From now through September, shoppers are expected to make multiple trips to gather all necessary items for the new school year. “You have guests who are excited and optimistic about the new school year and you have, at the same time, [some shoppers] are feeling a little bit sad that summer’s over,” Gomez said.
Convenient Shopping Features for Parents and Students
To make shopping easier and more convenient, Target has introduced several features on its website and app. The “Student List Assist” tool allows shoppers to input their school and see a list of required supplies, which can then be added to their cart and delivered directly to them. “We want to make it as easy and convenient as possible,” Gomez said.
Among the specials available this season, the Summit Ridge Kids’ $5 backpack stands out as Target’s lowest-priced backpack in over a decade, available in various colors and patterns. Additionally, Target’s list of 20 “must-have school supplies,” including items like Mondo Llama 12-pack colored pencils and up&up liquid glue, totals less than $20. Dorm room essentials under $20 are also on offer, with twin XL sheet sets and towel 4-packs priced at less than $10.
Exclusive Discounts for Teachers and College Students
Target is also extending special discounts to teachers and college students through its free Target Circle savings and loyalty program. Teachers can receive a one-time 20% discount on an entire purchase made between July 14 and August 24. College students are eligible for the same 20% discount on an entire purchase from July 14 to September 28.
Additionally, Target encourages college students to use its Target Circle 360 subscription service for their ongoing needs throughout the school year. This service offers free same-day deliveries on orders over $35. Between July 14 and August 24, parents can get a discounted Target Circle 360 subscription for their college-bound children, priced at $4.99 per month for verified students, down from the regular $10.99 monthly fee.
With these extensive deals and convenient shopping options, Target aims to support families and students in preparing for the upcoming school year while keeping budgets in check.
