Moorpark, CA – In a significant breakthrough, authorities have arrested a suspect nearly two decades after the murder of 71-year-old Dennis Wood. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Antoine Nehme, 72, in connection with the 2004 shooting death of Wood in his Moorpark home.
On April 16, 2004, deputies responded to a wellness check on Mountain Trail Street, where they discovered Wood dead from an apparent gunshot wound. Despite extensive investigations at the time, the case went cold as leads dried up.
The cold case unit revisited the case in 2023, uncovering new evidence that allegedly linked Nehme to the crime. Nehme, who was 52 at the time of the murder, was arrested on May 14. He is currently held in Ventura County Jail on a $2 million bail and appeared in court on May 16.
This arrest marks a pivotal moment in resolving a case that has lingered for two decades, bringing hope to the victim’s family and the community.
