Engaging in reckless behavior such as operating while intoxicated not only endangers one’s own life but also poses a grave threat to the safety of others on the road.
Based on an article published by Dryden Wire, a Wisconsin State Patrol sergeant detected signs of impairment in Schaffner, indicating that he might have been operating while intoxicated. Schaffner declined a standardized field sobriety test and was subsequently arrested for operating while intoxicated (OWI) with a minor passenger present.
After being taken to a local hospital for an evidentiary test, Schaffner was transported to the Barron County Jail. Despite Schaffner’s risky behavior of operating while intoxicated, a three-year-old child who was in his vehicle was released to an adult family member.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol, focusing on both the OWI and the crash itself.
