A harrowing incident unfolded in Reno, Nevada, as a 17-year-old girl stands accused of fatally shooting her younger brother and father, citing an uncontrollable urge to kill. Mashenka Reid is now facing murder charges following the tragic events that transpired at their residence on Silver Sky Parkway.
Authorities responded to a distress call reporting gunfire on Friday, February 9, at approximately 4 p.m. Reid herself dialed 911, confessing to the dispatchers, “I shot my dad. I shot my brother. My brother is dead.” She reportedly used a Walther PPS handgun and left it within the house.
Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered Reid’s brother, aged 4 or 5, deceased from a gunshot wound to the head. Her younger sister was also present during the incident, though her condition remains undisclosed. Reid’s father sustained critical injuries, succumbing to gunshot wounds to his chest and back. Both victims were pronounced dead around 4:30 p.m.
In a chilling confession to authorities, Reid allegedly stated, “I couldn’t control the urge to kill somebody,” shedding light on the motive behind the tragic ordeal.
The teenager has since been detained at the Washoe County Jail on charges of two counts of open murder and one count of attempted murder with a deadly weapon.
