Nebraska Blizzard Warning: Up to 13 inches of snow expected on Sunday.

Omaha, NE — A powerful winter storm will bring blizzard conditions to southeast Nebraska on Sunday, prompting an urgent travel warning.

The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for Jefferson, Gage, Pawnee, and Richardson counties, effective 3 a.m. Sunday until midnight. Heavy snowfall (8 to 13 inches) combined with 35 mph wind gusts will result in dangerous whiteout conditions.

The storm, which is already producing freezing drizzle, will turn to heavy snow overnight. According to the NWS, travel will be nearly impossible due to drifting snow and poor visibility. Residents are advised to avoid roads unless absolutely necessary.

Local officials warn of power outages and dangerous roads as ice and snow accumulate. Temperatures will drop dramatically Sunday night, with wind chills reaching -20°F by Monday morning.

The Nebraska State Patrol encourages residents to prepare emergency kits containing food, water, and flashlights. If stranded, drivers should remain in their vehicles for safety.
