BEATRICE – As part of a major drug investigation, Beatrice Police have arrested three people. On Thursday, they served a search warrant at a home located in the west section of the city, in the two-hundred block of Sumner Street.
Among those detained is Shelia Arington, 65.Steven Frye, age 59, and Taylor A. Smith, age 33.
The three were taken into custody by police on a number of accusations, including possession and distribution of prohibited narcotics, possession of a handgun, and possession of drug money.
According to the officers, Arington and Frye were present at the residence as the search warrant was being carried out.
Officers made prearranged drug transactions on December 1st and December 21st, one at a nearby fast food restaurant and the other at the house on Sumner Street, which led to Smith’s arrest. Police had verified that Smith had been residing in the house and that drug distribution had been occurring there.
Arington allegedly turned over a glass smoking pipe and around 1.75 grams of methamphetamine during the search of the house. Seven easily available weapons, a digital scale, and a second pipe were also found by the police.
While searching for Frye…Police discovered more than $600 in cash, sheets of cellophane used to package the drug, and tiny baggies of suspected meth. Frye was found in possession of approximately 5.4 grams of meth.
During an early Friday traffic check at 6th and Garfield, Taylor A. Smith was taken into custody. During the stop, Smith was given $859 by the police. There was nothing else in the car or on Smith.
Shelia Arington was taken into custody for possessing drugs and drug paraphernalia, aiding and abetting drug distribution, and carrying a handgun while committing a felony.
Steven Frye was taken into custody on charges of drug distribution and possession, possession of drug money and paraphernalia, and possession of a handgun while committing a felony.
Two charges of drug distribution, drug and money possession, and handgun possession while committing a felony led to Taylor A. Smith’s arrest.
All three were being held in the Gage County Jail.
