Joe D’Alessandris, who had about 50 years of coaching offensive linemen, which, in the long run, brought him to four NFL groups, passed away at 70.
The Baltimore Ravens, D’Alessandris’ manager since 2017, reported that he died on Sunday. He was hospitalized earlier this month with an unspecified sickness, and that caused him to step away from his obligations as the team’s offensive line coach.
But things went south pretty quickly, as Jeff Zrebiec posted that Ravens OL coach Joe D’Alessandris passed away on the morning of August 25th, 2024.
Coach John Harbaugh said that D’Alessandris had surgery prior to this summer and experienced complications.
“Our hearts ache with pain and pity upon learning of coach Joe D’Alessandris’ passing early this morning,” the team members said. “Joe lived a life of boundless confidence, love, dedication and motivation. As a husband, father, granddad, friend and coach, Joe made each person he experienced genuinely feel like they were the most important person in the world.”
Elsewhere, Baltimore’s GM Eric DeCosta also passed on his feelings upon hearing the news, “Today is a sad day for the Baltimore Ravens. Joe D was a good friend, an awesome coach and a better human being.” Well, it is really a terrible day as the entire Ravens country sobs for the passing of their cherished offensive line coach.
The Ravens will play in the league’s 2024 kick-off diversion against the Chiefs on 5th September.
As for the Ravens, it would be an overwhelming assignment for them to fill the void that Joe D takes off after his death. With the new season drawing nearer, can Baltimore find a substitute? Or will it be a big assignment for them?
