The South Dakota State Fair is adding a new twist to its lineup this year with the return of “Football at the Fair,” a Jackrabbit Watch Party hosted in the Beer Garden. In collaboration with First Dakota National Bank, this event offers fairgoers an exciting opportunity to cheer on their favorite team, the South Dakota State University (SDSU) Jackrabbits, as they kick off their 2024 football season.

The highlight of this year’s event is the SDSU Jackrabbits’ season opener against the Oklahoma State Cowboys, which will be streamed live in the Beer Garden on Saturday, August 31, starting at 1 PM. Thanks to Karl’s TV and Appliance, attendees can enjoy the game on a big screen in a lively, communal atmosphere. This event is open to fans of all ages and is included with the fair’s paid daily gate admission, making it an accessible and exciting way to experience the Fair while supporting the Jackrabbits.
“The State Fair has always been a place for South Dakotans to come together,” said Peggy Besch, State Fair Manager. “Hosting a watch party for SDSU’s opening game adds another level of fun at the Fair.” The Beer Garden, located just east of the grandstand, will be buzzing with excitement as fans gather to watch the game and enjoy the camaraderie that comes with cheering on the home team.
