Ralph “Jamie” Jamieson, age 65, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His life was marked by a deep commitment to his family, faith, and community.
A Life of Love and Dedication
Ralph Jamieson, affectionately known as Jamie, was born in Cleveland Heights and spent his formative years there. He attended St. Margaret Mary and Cathedral Latin, where he formed lifelong friendships that he cherished throughout his life. Jamie’s greatest joy was his marriage to his forever sweetheart, Eileen Jamieson (nee Morgan). They shared an extraordinary bond, celebrating 50 years of love, 43 of which were as husband and wife. Their love story was a true testament to commitment and devotion, a remarkable achievement for someone who lived to be 65 years old.
Jamie was a devoted father to his four children: Nancy, Pat (Kristen), Kelly O’Connor (Tim), and Matt (Ali). He took great pride in his role as a father, instilling in his children the values of family, faith, hard work, and humility. His love for his eight grandchildren—Maeve, Ellie, Bridey, Charlie, Libby, Finn, Grace, and Hannah—was boundless. Jamie had a unique ability to make each of his grandchildren feel special, often sharing his love for all things silly with them.
Cherished Roles and Lasting Legacy
Throughout his life, Jamie wore many hats, excelling in each role with enthusiasm and dedication. He was a brother, husband, grandpa, friend, coach, and Irishman. As a member of Pipefitters Local 120, he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his trade. Jamie was also known for his humor and sentimental nature, always the first to crack a joke or shed a tear during emotional moments. His crude birthday cards were legendary, and they always brought a smile to those who received them.
Jamie was more than just a family man; he was a friend and mentor to many. He went out of his way to make those around him feel valued and appreciated, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he met. His sense of humor, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his loved ones will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Heartfelt Farewell
Ralph Jamieson spent the last week of his life surrounded by his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren on the beach—a perfect ending to a life filled with happiness and love. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of his family and friends, but his legacy will live on through the memories and lessons he imparted.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in memory of Ralph to The Orange Effect Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping children with speech disorders. A Funeral Mass in Jamie’s honor will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at St. Paschal Baylon Church, followed by interment at All Souls Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the Schulte & Mahon-Murphy Funeral Home on Friday, August 23, from 3 to 7 p.m.
