Michigan State Police are now probing the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman whose body was recovered from Lake Michigan this month.
The body of Kristen Terrian, 39, of Gulliver, was found Aug. 9 on the western shore of Beaver Island, the MSP Eight District post said on X. Gulliver is about 70m west of St. Ignace at the upper peninsula of Michigan.
After a postmortem examination on Monday, the officials at the MSP were able to identify Terrian’s body through dental records.

Thursday, through the dental records of the victim, the body was identified to be that of Kristen Terrian. The post-mortem was conducted but has not been fully concluded, and further tests are still being done. MSP detectives have informed her family.
“This is not the outcome any of us wanted,” said F/Lt Mike Shaw, MSP Public Information Officer. “At this time, the CREC family would like to express our condolences to Kristen’s family and our community.”
State police said Terrian was last seen at Michibay Beach near Manistique Township Park at 5.30 a.m., August 2. The search for her was continued for at least four days.
She had no shoes on her and was dressed in light blue jeans and a dark green long-sleeve shirt.
”This is not the outcome any of us wanted,” said First Lt. Mike Shaw, an MSP public information officer, in a posting on X. “We extend our sympathies to Kristen’s family and our community.”
