Metaverse Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO, has decided not to support any candidate in the 2024 race.
The forty-year-old Zuckerberg stated in a Bloomberg interview that he wasn’t planning to be heavily involved in the 2024 election.
“I’m not thinking on engaging that this time, which involves not supporting any of the candidates,” he said, acknowledging he has “finished” certain things personally in the past.”
After an assault on the life of former President Donald Trump this past Saturday at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, several tech leaders, including Elon Musk of X, Tesla, and SpaceX, formally backed him. A former fire chief named Corey Comperatore, 50 had been shot and murdered when he protected his family from the shot that wounded Trump.
Snipers with the Secret Service shot and killed the gunman, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.
According to The Hill, several previous Democratic donors, such as Shaun Maguire of Sequoia Capital and Palantir advisor Jacob Helberg, have supported Trump. Based on Reuters, Trump is receiving support from venture entrepreneurs Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz in the presidential contest.
“Watching Donald Trump stand up after being wounded in his face and raise his hand in the air along with the American flag was one of the greatest impressive things that I’ve witnessed in my life,” Zuckerberg said to Bloomberg, hesitating to support Trump.
He continued, saying, “I believe that as an American, it’s difficult not to feel a little sentimental regarding that spirit and that struggle on a certain level.
In keeping with Meta, the parent corporation of Facebook and Instagram, Zuckerberg has chosen to attempt to avoid politics this election season. Meta also wants to restrict political information on its platforms.
Instagram declared in February that it will no longer actively suggest political content. If users decide to continue receiving suggestions for political content, they might have to make changes to their preferences.
