4 months before the general election in 2024, President Joe Biden endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic party’s nominee. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issued a sharp statement on X, previously Twitter, on Sunday afternoon.
After Biden debated with former president Donald Trump, who was recently announced as the Republican presidential contender, demands for President Biden to drop out of the 2024 presidential contest have grown over the past several weeks.
“Being your President represents the greatest privilege of my life.
In the letter, which was published on X just before 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, President Biden stated, “And although it wasn’t my plan to run for reelection, I think it is in the greatest interest of my group and the nation for me to step into so that I can focus only on achieving my responsibilities as President for the rest of my term.”
Next, Biden gave VP Kamala Harris his endorsement. “I am pleased to have the President’s support and my goal is to gain and win this nomination,” stated Harris in a statement.
In a post on X, Governor Ron DeSantis criticized the U.S. border and claimed that Harris was part of a major cover-up to conceal and reject that Joe Biden was incapable of carrying out his official duties.
According to DeSantis, Democrats are simply shifting the deck chairs on the Titanic.
