An unscheduled late shift at Wawa reportedly caused a Florida mom to leave her three small children at home in the middle of the night

After reportedly leaving her 3 small kids at home in the late hours of the night to go to work, a Florida lady is now being charged.

Officials claim that as the night wore on, the situation became more terrifying, and Linda St. Leger has been charged with neglecting her child as a consequence.

According to the authorities, the three kids are 2, 8, and 10 years old.

Based on Orlando-based ABC affiliate WFTV, the accused person was taken into custody on Wednesday and showed up in court on Thursday to address the accusations. It’s said that the event started the previous evening.

The woman allegedly abandoned her kids in their Plantation, Florida, home, which is a suburban community within the Broward regional area.

According to authorities, the suspect’s 2-year-old son reportedly left the residence with a pet dog shortly before midnight on Tuesday. The youngster, who was reportedly wearing a soiled diaper, is said to have traveled more than a quarter of a mile until someone saw he was alone, helped him to safety, and dialed 911.

Even at one in the morning, the home is said to have been extremely hot inside when the police arrived. The residence’s interior temperature, according to the authorities, was 91 degrees. A condition of degradation was also noted by the officers; dog waste was reportedly discovered throughout the residence, but no usable food was discovered.

According to authorities, the woman’s 10-year-old daughter informed them that her mother typically works the late-night shift from Sunday to Wednesday at the local Wawa grocery store and gas station business. The youngster reportedly admitted to investigators that she watched her 2 younger brothers throughout those times, including changing their diapers. After that, the concerned Wawa was called by law enforcement.

Leger claimed to cops that she had a medical problem late at night and was brought in suddenly to work. The victim’s court-appointed counsel made an effort to present the case in terms of financial difficulties and instability.
