Jake Paul is eager to start competing in mixed martial arts (MMA). And after their matchup tops the DAZN pay-per-view (PPV) event on Saturday night (July 20) in Tampa, “The Problem Child” is willing to take on “Platinum” within the PFL “SmartCage,” if UFC welterweight converted bare-knuckle “king” Mike Perry is ready to agree to the rematch condition that Nate Diaz refused.
“I’m in,” Paul declared. “F—k it, we could run it back in MMA when I defeated Mike Perry in boxing.” An MMA battle is what I want. The SmartCage is there, you know? Additionally, I believe that once I begin MMA, my background in wrestling will become apparent, making me a very formidable fighter.
So Mike Perry is able to grasp it. My hands are trisexual; they will attempt anything once, and mixed martial arts is that.
Perry is 5-0 with 3 knockdowns on the bare-knuckle circuit but 0-1 as an experienced boxer. After Mike Tyson had to postpone his “Problem Child” headlining due to an ulcer flare-up, “Platinum” agreed to face Paul. The outcome of this weekend’s Amalie Arena battle for Paul could determine whether or not it gets scheduled for November.
“I’ll give Jake his back,” Perry answered. “Jiu-jitsu and wrestling are two different things; they’re not just something you carry around in your back pocket.
I mean, I noticed Paulo Costa and Logan Paul having some fun, but really, how serious is that? I don’t allow anybody to take advantage of me, whether we’re practicing in the ring or anything else.”
Jake Paul agrees to an MMA rematch with Mike Perry
The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani featured Jake Paul’s manager Nakisa Bidarian this week, hinting that “The Problem Child” may be interested in a rematch with Mike Perry but with one exception.
“I think that’s definitely something that Jake wants to do if the match makes sense,” Bidarian asserted, adding that the extent of fan demand would determine whether or not a rematch would occur.
