Buc-ee’s is set to open its largest location to date next month in Luling, Texas. This new store, sprawling over 75,000 square feet, will become the biggest Buc-ee’s in the country, reclaiming the title from the Sevierville, Tennessee location, which opened last June and spans over 74,500 square feet. The new Luling store will replace the city’s existing Buc-ee’s, which holds historical significance as the brand’s first-ever family travel center built in 2003.

A Celebration of Buc-ee’s Origins

The grand opening of the new Luling store is scheduled for Monday, June 10, 2024, at 6 a.m. CT, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony at noon CT. Buc-ee’s Director of Real Estate and Development, Stan Beard, expressed enthusiasm about this milestone, stating, “It’s particularly exciting, considering this is the Buc-ee’s that started it all, so we are looking forward to celebrating with the incredible people of Luling.” Local government members are expected to join in the ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the occasion.

Located on I-10, about two hours west of Houston, the new Buc-ee’s will feature 120 fueling positions and offer “thousands of snack, meal, and drink options for travelers on the go.” Buc-ee’s is renowned for its clean bathrooms, fresh food, and friendly service. Customer favorites like Texas barbeque, homemade fudge, kolaches, Beaver Nuggets, jerky, and fresh pastries will be available at the new location.

Expanding Beyond Texas

Buc-ee’s, founded in Texas in 1982, has been undergoing a multi-state expansion since 2019. The company has opened travel centers in several states, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee, Missouri, and Colorado. This year, Buc-ee’s also began constructing its first locations in Virginia and Mississippi.

Future Buc-ee’s locations are already planned in several states:

• Smiths Grove, Kentucky: 2024
• Amarillo, Texas: 2025
• Brunswick, Georgia: 2025
• Rockingham County, Virginia: 2026
• Boerne, Texas: 2026

Local officials have also announced upcoming stores in Benton, Arkansas, and Goodyear, Arizona. North Carolina will welcome its first Buc-ee’s in Mebane, and a new store is planned for western Ohio. Additionally, a location on the Treasure Coast is in the works, and Anderson, South Carolina, will see a Buc-ee’s opening in 2026, which will necessitate infrastructure improvements.

Buc-ee’s Future Prospects

Although the new Luling location will temporarily hold the title of the largest Buc-ee’s, the company is already planning an even larger store. An 80,000-square-foot Buc-ee’s is in development in Ocala, Florida, promising to set a new record.
