In Azusa, California, an 81-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly terrorizing his neighborhood with a slingshot for nearly a decade. Prince Raymond King was apprehended by the Azusa Police Department on May 23 and dubbed a “serial slingshot shooter.”
According to a press release, King used a slingshot and ball bearings to damage property and nearly hit individuals over the years. The police investigation revealed that dozens of citizens had been victimized, with windows and windshields broken by the ball bearings.
Footage from local outlet ABC 7 displayed various levels of damage in the neighborhood, with some windows showing pellet-sized holes and others completely shattered. Despite the extensive property damage, no injuries were reported during the ten years of vandalism, Lieutenant Jake Bushey confirmed to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.
Law enforcement officials had been investigating since the first attack but were unable to identify the suspect until recently. A search warrant executed earlier this month led to the discovery of ball bearings and a slingshot in King’s residence.
King was subsequently arrested and is currently being held without bail at Men’s Central Jail in Los Angeles. It remains unclear if he has legal representation to comment on his behalf.
