Candelario Cordova, aged 54, has admitted to the first-degree manslaughter of his friend and colleague, 58-year-old Roque Cisneros. Additionally, he confessed to the attempted second-degree murder of Cisneros’ wife, adding another layer of horror to the ordeal.

The sequence of events leading to this tragedy began on February 16, when Cisneros and Cordova were together in Cisneros’ SUV, parked outside their home. Cordova’s actions aroused suspicion as he attempted to coax Cisneros out of the vehicle. Observing this from her kitchen window, Cisneros’ wife intervened when Cordova abruptly drove away with her husband still inside. She courageously pursued them in her own car.

The situation escalated rapidly as Cordova stopped the vehicle and retrieved a knife from the trunk. In a frenzied attack, he repeatedly stabbed Cisneros in the neck and body, causing fatal injuries. When Cisneros’ wife intervened to protect her husband, she became a victim herself, enduring severe injuries inflicted by Cordova.

The community’s swift response played a crucial role in subduing Cordova until law enforcement arrived on the scene. Despite their efforts, Cisneros succumbed to his injuries, leaving behind a grieving family and shocked neighbors. His wife received medical treatment for the wounds inflicted upon her during the harrowing ordeal.

District Attorney Raymond Tierney expressed condolences to the victims and emphasized the severity of the trauma inflicted upon Cisneros’ wife. Cordova’s guilty plea brings a semblance of closure to the legal proceedings, but the scars of this tragedy will linger within the community for years to come.

As the sentencing date approaches, the community remains united in support of the victims’ families, hoping for justice to be served in this heartbreaking case.
