This assault comes amid a disturbing trend of random attacks in New York City, with several individuals, including half a dozen women, reporting unprovoked assaults while on the streets. Buscemi’s publicist confirmed the incident, stating that the actor was assaulted in Mid-Town Manhattan, becoming another victim of senseless violence in the city. Fortunately, Buscemi is reported to be okay and appreciative of the well-wishes pouring in. Police Response and Investigation
The NYPD swiftly responded to the scene, located at 369 3rd Avenue, just before noon on Wednesday. Upon arrival, officers learned that a 66-year-old male, identified as Buscemi, had been punched in the face by an unidentified assailant. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transported him to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue for treatment of injuries to his left eye, including bruising, swelling, and bleeding.
Ongoing Search for Suspect
Currently, no arrests have been made, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing. The NYPD has released a description of the suspect, appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the individual responsible for the assault. The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion, wearing a dark-colored baseball-style cap, blue t-shirt, black pants, white sneakers, and carrying a book bag.
