According to reports from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call on April 13 concerning an unresponsive child at a residence on London Groveport Road. The child, who was under the care of Mollett, a family friend, had reportedly experienced a seizure. Emergency services rushed the child to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in critical condition, but unfortunately, he later succumbed to the effects of the drug.

Investigations revealed that Mollett allegedly administered Diphenhydramine, the active ingredient in Benadryl, to the child, leading to the tragic outcome. Detectives discovered two bottles of Benadryl at Mollett’s residence, and he purportedly confessed to administering the drug to the child.

On May 1, Mollett was arrested by detectives on charges of child endangerment, reckless homicide, and murder. During his arraignment, bond was set at $2 million for the murder charge and $1 million each for child endangerment and reckless homicide. Mollett remains in custody at the Franklin County Jail pending further legal proceedings.

The community has been left reeling by the devastating loss of the young child and the circumstances surrounding his death. As the case progresses through the judicial system, the hope for justice remains paramount for the family and loved ones of the victim.
