A man from Utah named John Earle Sullivan got sent to prison for six years. He filmed when a lady named Ashli Babbitt got shot during the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021. He said he was just there to record as a regular person, but the court found him guilty of some serious crimes.
Ashli Babbitt was a protester and a veteran of the Air Force. She got shot by a police officer while she was trying to go into a part of the Capitol that was blocked off. She didn’t have any weapons and she was climbing through a broken window when it happened.
The court said that John Sullivan made a lot of money from the videos he took during the riot including the one where Ashli Babbitt got shot. He was also seen encouraging people to break things and cause trouble during the riot. He was in a place called the Speaker’s Lobby when he filmed Babbitt’s death, according to the crime report of Just The News.
