The first attack occurred at 7:57 a.m. on the 1300 block of Chancellor Street, where a 24-year-old woman was stabbed in the chest and hand by a woman who then fled the scene. Less than five hours later, around 12:45 p.m., a 1-year-old boy was stabbed in both arms while being pushed in a stroller near 300 South 18th Street. The assailant, described as a 29-year-old woman with a prior arrest for aggravated assault, remains at large.

Security footage captured the chilling moments of the second attack, showing the woman rushing towards the family pushing the stroller without uttering a word. While attempting to stab both children, she managed to injure only one before being chased by the children’s father. In the pursuit, the attacker dropped a black bag containing a coat believed to be worn during the first incident.

Both victims were swiftly transported to nearby hospitals. The 1-year-old boy is currently in stable condition at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, while the woman injured in the first attack is reported to be in stable condition at Jefferson University Hospital.

Authorities have described the weapon used in both assaults as “a long knife, resembling some kind of kitchen knife,” adding to the severity and brutality of the attacks.

The second stabbing incident occurred near Temple Beth Zion-Beth Israel, though authorities have confirmed it was not related to anti-Semitism. The synagogue’s staff and security team swiftly responded, providing aid to the victims until medical assistance arrived.

As investigations continue, Philadelphia police urge the public to come forward with any information that could lead to the apprehension of the suspect. The disturbing nature of these attacks has prompted heightened vigilance among residents and law enforcement alike, emphasizing the importance of community awareness and cooperation in ensuring public safety.
