Authorities in Oklahoma have apprehended and booked four individuals on suspicion of kidnapping and murder about the March disappearance of two women who remain missing. Tad Bert Cullum, 43; Tiffany Machel Adams, 54; Cole Earl Twombly, 50; and Cora Twombly, 44, were arrested and booked on Saturday in connection with the case. The missing women, identified as Veronica Butler, 27, and Jilian Kelley, 39, were believed to have been victims of a targeted attack, with law enforcement emphasizing that the public is not believed to be in danger.
Investigation and Arrests
Texas County Sheriff Matt Boley addressed reporters, stating that the investigation into the disappearance was prompted by information suggesting a targeted incident rather than a random occurrence. The suspects were apprehended in Texas and Cimarron counties in the westernmost region of the Oklahoma panhandle. They have been booked into the Texas County Jail on charges of first-degree murder, kidnapping, and conspiracy to commit murder, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI).
Search for Victims Continues
Despite the arrests, authorities are continuing their efforts to locate Butler and Kelley. An “endangered missing advisory” was issued for the women on March 30 after their vehicle was found abandoned in a rural area of Texas County, south of Elkhart, Kansas. OSBI special agents have been conducting an extensive investigation into the disappearance, as evidence at the scene indicated the possibility of foul play. The remote nature of the area has posed challenges to the investigation, with limited access to security cameras and few residences or businesses nearby.
Family Concerns and Ongoing Investigation
Veronica Butler’s stepmother, Guadalupe Torres, revealed that Butler had been involved in a contentious custody dispute at the time of her disappearance. While the bookings in connection with the investigation include allegations of murder, authorities have not explicitly stated that they are searching for the victims’ bodies.
The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Butler and Kelley is urged to contact the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation at [email protected] or 1-800-522-8017.
