Albuquerque, New Mexico – In a swift and daring chase, a mounted police officer in Albuquerque, New Mexico, apprehended a shoplifter in just under one minute, showcasing the effectiveness of equine law enforcement in urban settings.
The pursuit unfolded outside a Walgreens store when the officer and his majestic steed observed a suspect bolting out of the establishment, laden with $230 worth of stolen merchandise. The officer wasted no time, immediately initiating pursuit as bystanders urged him on.
The dramatic chase saw the officer and his horse navigating through a parking lot and across a busy three-lane roadway, determined to catch the fleeing thief. Despite the suspect’s attempts to shake off his pursuer, including a brief interlude of attempting to briskly walk away, the mounted officer remained relentless.
Within moments, additional mounted officers joined the pursuit, effectively cornering the suspect on a sidewalk. Swiftly dismounting, one of the officers proceeded to handcuff the individual, identified as 30-year-old Mark Chacon.
