Elizabeth City, NC – Tyisha Major, a 44-year-old woman from Elizabeth City, North Carolina, is now facing a murder charge following the tragic death of her husband, Jermaine Major, after she allegedly ran him over with a vehicle.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, Feb. 8, at the intersection of White Street and Walston Avenue. Upon arrival at the scene, officers from the Elizabeth City Police Department found 43-year-old Jermaine Major trapped beneath a 2004 Acura sedan. Despite efforts by emergency personnel to save him, Jermaine succumbed to his injuries.
Initially, Tyisha Major was arrested on charges of driving while impaired and felony death by motor vehicle. She was taken into custody and booked into the Albemarle District Jail with a bond set at $50,000. However, more than a month later, on March 18, Tyisha Major was indicted on a count of murder, leading to her rebooking into jail without bond.
The case has been scheduled for a court appearance on April 8, where Tyisha Major will face the charges brought against her.
