Gypsy Rose Blanchard Reveals Disturbing Details About Her Relationship with Mother

In her recently published e-book, “Released: Conversations on the Eve of Freedom,” Gypsy Rose Blanchard, the woman convicted of conspiring to murder her mother, opens up about the disturbing dynamics of her relationship with her mother, Claudine “Dee Dee” Blanchard. Drawing from personal writings, letters, and drawings made during her time in prison, as well as transcripts of phone calls with journalist Melissa Moore, Gypsy sheds light on her unconventional upbringing and the events leading up to her involvement in her mother’s death.

One revelation shared by Gypsy is the fact that she and her mother would regularly bathe together, even up until shortly before the murder. While Gypsy clarifies that it did not happen all the time, she expresses discomfort with the situation, particularly when her mother would shave her vagina. This revelation highlights the blurred boundaries and abnormal circumstances that Gypsy had grown accustomed to.

Furthermore, Gypsy discloses the sexual abuse her mother endured at the hands of her own father, Claude Pitre. According to Gypsy, the abuse persisted into Dee Dee’s adulthood and motherhood, indicating a disturbing cycle of abuse within the family. Gypsy also alleges that she, too, was sexually abused by Pitre on multiple occasions.

Reflecting on her mother’s actions, Gypsy speculates that the abuse and hints of Munchausen syndrome by proxy exhibited by her maternal grandmother likely influenced Dee Dee’s need for control and the obsessive focus on her daughter’s health. Gypsy emphasizes, however, that her analysis is not a means to play therapist but rather a deep examination of her mother’s perspective.

Notably, these revelations echo Gypsy’s accusations made in the recent Lifetime docuseries, “The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard.” Pitre, when confronted with these allegations, denied them and attempted to shift the blame onto Gypsy, claiming that she had initiated inappropriate behavior at a young age.

The Pitre family has yet to respond to these recent revelations.

Gypsy’s e-book provides new insights into the troubled dynamics of her relationship with her mother and offers a glimpse into the possible factors that contributed to the extreme circumstances that led to her involvement in her mother’s murder. The harrowing details shared by Gypsy call attention to the complex nature of abuse and the long-lasting effects it can have on the lives of those affected.
