In a tragic incident on Chicago’s far West Side, a physical altercation escalated into gunfire, resulting in the death of a 16-year-old boy. The incident occurred in a residence in the 100 block of North Parkside around 8:30 p.m., leaving the community in shock.
The victim, identified as Leontaye Taylor by the Medical Examiner’s Office, was engaged in a confrontation with a 33-year-old male suspect known to him. According to police reports, the altercation took a deadly turn when the suspect produced a handgun and fired multiple shots at the teenager.
Leontaye Taylor sustained fatal gunshot wounds to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene. The grim aftermath unfolded as witnesses reported that the suspect fled the residence with the handgun before law enforcement arrived.
As of now, no one is in custody, and Area 4 detectives have taken charge of the investigation. The incident highlights the alarming surge in gun violence, emphasizing the urgent need for community awareness and preventive measures.
