According to records from the Miami-Dade County Corrections and Rehabilitation, McKinzie brought her unconscious son to Hialeah Hospital on Tuesday, November 14, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy revealed that the cause of the boy’s death was strangulation, reportedly carried out with a tablecloth.
