A 25-year-old Houston man has been arrested and charged with capital murder in the deaths of his aunt and grandmother, and with sexually assaulting his 12-year-old cousin.
The suspect, whose name has not been released, was taken into custody on Thursday morning after a series of horrific events that unfolded overnight in northwest Harris County.
According to Harris County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ben Beall, the first incident occurred at approximately 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15, when deputies were called to an abandoned Chase bank drive-thru center on the 9700 block of Wortham Boulevard. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the body of a deceased female in the parking lot.
Investigators believe the victim, a 66-year-old woman, was killed at the bank. While investigating the crime scene, detectives received a chilling call from a 12-year-old girl who reported that her mother and grandmother had both been fatally shot. The girl also stated that her cousin, the same man now in custody, had sexually assaulted her and was asleep in another room.
Deputies immediately responded to the girl’s residence on the 11500 block of Deep Meadow Boulevard and located a truck matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle. Upon entering the home, deputies discovered the girl’s mother, a 42-year-old woman, deceased in a bedroom. The girl was safely rescued and transported to a hospital for a sexual assault evaluation.
The suspect, who was still asleep inside the house, emerged and was apprehended without incident. He was found to be in possession of a knife and a gun.
Investigators believe the suspect committed the murder of his grandmother at the bank and then drove to his cousin’s home, where he killed her mother and sexually assaulted the 12-year-old girl.
The suspect is currently being held without bond and is expected to face capital murder charges. The identities of the victims have not been released at this time.
This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of violence and the importance of protecting vulnerable members of our community. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims’ families during this difficult time.
