Disturbing Assault Verdict: Illinois Woman Found Guilty of Kicking Elderly Mother in Face

A 38-year-old lady was found guilty by a jury of abusing her ailing mother, which resulted in serious facial injuries in late 2022.

Rebecca Wise was found guilty on two counts of aggravated violence of a victim 60 years of age or older and one count of aggravated domestic battery causing grave bodily harm by a jury on Tuesday, Nov. 14, according to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Legal Outcome: Illinois Woman Convicted of Assaulting Elderly Mother, Faces Sentencing

The prosecution, represented by Assistant State’s Attorneys Jacki Kliment and Amanda Busljeta, contended that on November 22, 2022, Wise broke her orbital bone when she kicked her mother in the face in her mother’s home. The prosecution also mentioned that Wise’s mother was older than sixty years old when the attack occurred. Wise will return to court on December 13 to be sentenced, where she could spend three to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections or up to 48 months on probation.

Kliment added in a statement, “Family relationships may be challenging at times. But having a rocky connection with a family member is never a justification for hurting someone physically.”

“The victim showed incredible courage in confronting her daughter in court and finally being allowed to tell her side of the story,” Kliment went on. I would like to express my gratitude to victim advocate Sheila Gray and ASA Busljeta for their excellent work on this matter.
