The incident unfolded on Wednesday morning when authorities responded to a reported shooting at the residence. Upon arrival, they discovered the two boys in a bedroom with gunshot injuries. A witness, who had entered the house, guided authorities to the scene where a gun, suspected to be the murder weapon, was found on a bed, according to an arrest report obtained by local stations WLKY, WAVE, and WDRB.

The victims, whose names have not been disclosed, were rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to their injuries shortly thereafter. The authorities have not released additional details about the shooting, stating only that the investigation is ongoing.

“At this time, it appears all parties in relation to this incident have been accounted for and there is no threat to the community,” the official press release stated.

Tiffanie Lucas, 32, now faces two counts of murder charges. Court records cited by WLKY reveal that Lucas had a prior conviction for drug possession, resulting in a one-month jail term. The motive behind the tragic incident remains unclear, leaving the community in shock.

“Whether you think it’s mental illness, just pure evil, a combination of both, it could be substance abuse, any combination thereof,” commented Col. Alex Payne, Chief Deputy of the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office. “Pick your poison. None of it’s good. The result is horrific.”

Local resident Carol Warren expressed her disbelief and sorrow, stating, “I know people get aggravated, but that is just over the top. It is sad.”

Tiffanie Lucas is currently held at the Bullitt County Detention Center on a $2 million bond. Reports suggest that a judge entered a not-guilty plea on her behalf. As the community grapples with the shock of this tragic event, the investigation continues to uncover the circumstances surrounding the heartbreaking loss of two young lives.
